Here's a list of abbreviations found in knitting patterns. Obviously this list isn't exhaustive. Let me know if there's a particular abbreviation you think is an absolute MUST on this list!

1/1 LPC left slanting cable; hold one stitch in front on      a cable needle, and purl the next stitch. Knit the stitch on the cable needle

1/1 RPC right slanting cable: hold one stitch in the back on a cable needle, and knit the next stitch. Purl the stitch on the cable needle
